About The Artist
Louise Numina born at Utopia in 1976 -Utopia is located approximately 350km North East of Alice Springs. She is one of nine children (six sisters & three brothers). Louise attended primary school at a cattle station known as Stirling Station located near Tennant Creek and later attended Yirara College in Alice Springs.
In 1981 Louise was encouraged to take up painting and did so with the guidance and support from her high profile aunties- Gloria and Kathleen Petyarre.
Moving to Darwin in 1995 Louise began studying at Nungalinya College and gained a Diploma of Fine Arts from the Northern Territory University. Currently Louise lives in Darwin with her two sisters, Jacinta and Lanita Numina, who are also well-renowned artists from Utopia.
Her paintings predominantly depicting Bush Medicine Leaves, Women Ceremonies, Bush Tucker, Emu Dreaming and Body Paint. Louise has exhibited in various venues around Australia including Darwin and Sydney.
