Artist from Yuendumu – Ida, Alice & Loraine Granites Exhibition (09th – 27th May)

In March, we had an exhibition to showcase the wonderful works of ‘Felicity Robertson Nampitjinpa’ from Yuendumu. As mentioned we were fortunate to have felicity paint in Gallery in late December 2016. Through Felicity’s assistance we have been fortunate entice three prominent artists from Yuendumu – Ida, Alice & Loraine Granites.

The Trio painted for the gallery in January this year and finally all their fantastic paintings have been stretched and can now be displayed which will happen between 09th May to the 27th. Prominently all three paint mainly in black & white each individual having their own style and dreaming.

Alice’s paintings relate almost entirely to her culture and country especially to the landscape surrounding Yuendumu.

Ida’s focus associated with water and one is a water course west of Yuendumu that is usually dry. There are also two or three other sites that also are prominent and all are associated with water.

Loraine’s painting features stories from her father’s dreaming which incorporates and highlights her land, its features and animal life especially bird.
