Warlimpirrnga Tjapaltjarri

Born :- C  1958- East of Kirwirrkurra , Western Australia

Language :- Pintupi

Region :- Kiwirrkurra

Dreaming :- Tingari Cycle

Warlimpirrnga began painting for the Papunya Tula Artists on canvas with acrylics approximately three years after emerging with his family from his traditional country around Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay) sometime in 1984.  He and his family are considered to be one of the last of the Pintupi people to become imitated   into what is termed “Modern Australia”. His art can be seen as a reflection & testimony to the time-honoured way of living & beliefs that sustained Aboriginal people for centuries.

Warlimpirrnga like his two brothers (Thomas & Walala) paint “Tingari Cycle” which depicts a series of sacred and secret mythological ceremonies describing the epic journeys of his ancestors.
