Ruby paints the Dreaming stories taught by her mother & prominent artist – Linda Syddick Napaltjarri with reference to Tingari and Emu Men
The Emu Men were ancestral beings that roamed the landscape during the Dream time or Creation Period.
The Emu was the totem of her grandfather – Rintje Tjungurrayi . The Tingari were ancestral spirit beings, who went on very long journeys, creating much of the desert landscape in Central Australia, inculding instructing the people about law and custom.
Ruby like her mother Linda paints country which has been central to the cultural and spiritual life of the Pintupi people for thousands of years. People used to camp during their seasonal journeys and come together at these locations for ceremonies.
