Pacinta Turner Nakamarra

Pacinta Turner Nakamarra was born in 1999 within the Utopia region of the Northern Territory. She is the daughter of an already well known artists “Caroline Numina Pananka” and Daniel Pula. Caroline herself had a great grounding from an artist’s prospective as the prominent Gloria Petyarre is her aunt and her father is closely related to the now deceased famous artist Minnie Pwerle. It is no wonder with this pedigree behind her that Pacinta is becoming a highly sort after artist.

Pacinta’s works portray “My Country” and her totem dreaming of the wallaby which is highlighted by its tracks throughout her paintings. The dotted lines depict the movement of the wallaby about the landscape throughout the desert at night.

This style of painting originally came to prominence through the works of the late famous indigenous artist “Emily Kngwarreye”. Pacinta has been given the authority to continue to paint this dreaming and because of this she is able to continue to impart her cultural dreaming stories to a vast audience both here and abroad.
