Dreaming: – Yarla (Yam) Wapirti Marlujarra Ngalatji ( Little White Flower) Bush Tomato, Caterpillar, Wallaby &Men’s Stories.
The passing of Lorna in 2006 marked the end of a unique flourish of artistic output. Her works are prominently displayed in a number of State Galleries throughout Australia and major private collections.
Lorna’s career began in the 1980s and prior to painting on canvas she painted on traditional women’s coolamons and digging sticks both for ceremony and for sale.
Recognised for her innate sense and use of colour which is clearly demonstrated in later works where we experience the full vibrant palette of colour bringing a new vision and understanding to these Dreaming stories.
Lorna’s intuitive use of colour and free gestural brush strokes combined with her intimate knowledge of tribal lore and Dreaming has often been compared with late Emily Kngwarreye.
Lorna’s work is viewed as uniquely & decidedly her own.
