Christine’s career has been influenced by many prominent artists from this region including her father, Helicopter George Tjungurrayi amongst them. Significantly, she paints the stories which have been handed down by her late mother this appears to be an abiding motivation in her work.
The bond with her mother is constantly evident. Christine’s works are stunning, original depictions of ancient stories. Themes include Witjinti (soakwater), Mungari (bush food), Winpurpurla (her late mother’s country in the Great Sandy Desert).
The central circle represents the soak water while the linear areas represent the sand dunes.
